for the 2009 Season

The Diamond Jubilee Organ is the largest touring British fairground organ in the Americas, and one of only two similar instruments in the United States. An antique organ built by the Gavioli firm in Paris in 1897, The Diamond Jubilee Organ recreates the sound of the traveling fun fair, the Happiest Music on Earth1! Newly restored, with over 400 pipes playing on four registers The Diamond Jubilee Organ is a real attention-getter, and will bring a smile to every one who hears it at your fair, festival, or celebration.

The above are links to MP3 files, they are intended to give a flavor of the sound and will some day be replaced with professional versions. Depending on how your computer is set up you may need to download them and open them in an audio player like iTunes or WinAmp, or your browser may play them automatically using, for example, Quicktime. These are ~2Mb files, so will take a long time to download on a slow connection. These files are provided for personal listening only; the recordings are copyrighted, please don't abuse them.

The Jubilee is presented on a custom display trailer:

The following are organizations I belong to that support the mechanical music hobby. I'd encourage you to visit their web sites if you'd like to learn more about these great machines.

Interested in seeing carousel or fairground organs in person? Click here to link to the Carousel Organ Association of America, sponsor of band organ rallies across the US during the summer months.

MBSI chapters also sponsor organ rallies, as well as being one of the largest groups of collectors of music boxes and other mechanical music items. Click here to learn more about the MBSI.

The Fair Organ Preservation Society is one of the premier organizations in Britain dedicated to these wonderful machines

MOOS, or the Mechanical Organ Owner's Society is a UK-based group that publishes a very informative magazine.

While not an organization in the same sense as those listed above, the Mechanical Music Digest contains a wealth of information and is an invaluable source of friendly advice

Another source for conversation and lots of information on fairground organs is iMOD:

For the best company picnic experience to be had please visit Wiegand's Lake Park in Novelty, Ohio.
